County Fairs have a whole new meaning.....

We went to the Sonoma County Fair today!!! I am not a big crowd lover so fairs are not up there on my list of things to do for fun. But this year was different...I initiated the plan to go...usually Jon decides when we go. He likes rides...I am too chicken. He likes the horse races... and honestly, I enjoy those as well...even though I feel incredily guilty because it borders on cruelty in my opinion...but it turns out I AM GOOD AT WINNING!!! Anytime I have ever bet money on horses (like 3 times) I have the best luck. I choose my horse based solely on it's name....phooey on the odds and jockey and all that nonsense! For example, my lucky horse today was named Truffle in Paradise...I chose him because I had an embarrasing incident at an overly fancy restaurant here in Sonoma County. The "truffle cart" gentleman asked if we wanted truffle shavings over our food (65 dollars per shave, thank you! NO!)he said..."they are so nice because they are in season now"....my response was "I had no idea truffles had seasons"....I said this because up until that moment I had no idea that all truffles were not CHOCOLATE!!! Yes I have heard of truffle oil!!!
Anyway...the beautiful Truffle in Paradise brought me a big fat 25 dollars!!!
So anyway...the reason I initiated the fair plan is because they have a bunch bunch bunch of livestock and, AND a petting zoo!!! Oh my did we have some fun and I've got the sweet pictures to prove it!!!
Here is Edie all strapped into her carseat on the way to the fairgrounds...she wore these awesome shades for the longest time today...we got lots of comments on the sheer cuteness...

and Ella Grace...wondering what all the sunglass hype is all about...

Edie with the first group of goats she has ever seen...

there were several of these sweet baby pigs...some were even smaller than this one...

Ella threw alot of hay...

Edie trying to get down on the baby goats level...

a sweet baby goat that followed Ella and I around for a while...

Ella petting a baby deer...

sweet, sweet baby Ella...

these goats were snuggly cute...

Edie petting a baby goat...

both girls with a Llama......

Edie petting a Llama....

Edie loved the baby pigs...

They had a wallaby.....he/she was so darn adorable......

They're as cute as anything! Love the shades and the truffle story. There was such a long time that I thought that truffles were nothing but chocolate...personally, I don't understand the hype over the real things!

How fun! It will be fun when Naomi is old enough to enjoy these things too (although I am not in a rush for her to grow up!).

Love the butterfly shades too, so cute.

Hmm - maybe we should go. I think they'd be into a petting zoo.

So great that you won money!! I won on the ponies at that fair once and made my grandfather SO mad. He was a hardcore gambler and was super pissed that some little 12 year old (me) could pick 'em better than he could. He was kind of a jerk.

But enough about me. Your girls are so effing cute. We've gotta meet up and watch them all toddle around together!
